The Extra, a poem by Lexi Flint

Day 26 Write a casting poem

Some days she feels as if she was an extra in her own life

instead of having the starring role.

How had she become a supporting cast member

better yet,

the food cart server,

hairdresser,

maid,

and chauffeur?

This was not the life she planned,

cleaning up the messes of others.

Yet she did her duty

day in and day out.

Wishing that one day,

the spot light would once again

shine on her faded hopes and dreams.

If only she had the energy ,

the memory

needed to recall her lines

she could take back the lead

and live the life

she only saw

on the silver screen

of her mind.
