Everyone Lies To Her, a poem by Lexi Flint

Day 25 Everyone lies to her.

She had watched enough cop shows to know when someone was lying.

She looked at everyone in the eye and expecting the same in return.

If they refused to look at her

If they looked down at the floor

stammering for an answer

or looked up and to the left

she knew.

Sometimes she wished

she couldn’t read the body language

of strangers,

her lover,

her kids,

then she wouldn’t go the bed each night

With a broken heart

Because everyone lies to her

and it started with the word hello.

  1. Another great one, though it is sad.
